Giveaway - Appreciation Party

Created - 11/10/2008

Focus Friends, a Colarado-based company created by 2 Moms, seeks to spread and inspire with their new line of quality books and products for young children, ages 2 to 9, based on unique characters they call Focus Friends. Each Focus Friend character possesses the essence of a special gift or trait and shows children how to apply that quality to their lives.

Earlier in August, I'd blogged about their debut title, Joy is the Greatest Gift which introduced readers to the first Focus Friends characters, Joyann, who shares with readers her gift of creating joy. And now, they've released their second book, Appreciation Party, featuring another Focus Friend, Appreciakate!

9” x 11 ” Hardcover Book with Dust Jacket.
32 Pages. Full Color.
Retail Price: $16.99 USA

In this book meant for children ages 2-9, pre-k – 3rd grade, the Focus Friends boys and girls attend a celebration at Appreciakate's house. During the festivities, they are given three clues and discover that we all are given the Gift of Appreciation. All we have to do is look around us to find things to appreciate.

With catchy rhymes and colorful illustrations, this wonderful book conveys in a manner simple and easy to understand, the powerful message of appreciation. As Appreciakate puts it,
"Let us appreciate:
A loving family;
A Warm, safe home;
Cuddly pets;
Fun toys of our own."
And so on and so forth. Appreciakate teaches us to appreciate everything around us, from the green trees to the friends who surround us.

This is a wonderful message to spread and it comes at just the right time. It strikes at the heart of the commercialism that permeates the Holiday season and teaches us that we're surrounded by wondrous things, appreciable things, if only we opened our eyes and really saw them. The second reason it's important is that it comes at a time when the economy has taken a severe downturn and lots of families are worried about the future. It helps us all at this time to look at the things we do have, focus on the positive rather than lament that which we don't have or have lost.

I personally feel that this is one book that no parent should neglect to share with their children! So make sure to visit Focus Friends today to buy a copy of this book as well as the previous book, Joy is the Greatest Gift, and share them with your family this holiday season. Both adults and children alike will be touched by the powerful message in these books.
